features: The larger
and broader epicone gives H. rotundata the appearance of a
mushroom
or arrowhead.
Distribution:
Cosmopolitan, primarily
found in temperate to tropical estuarine waters.
Impact:
Sometimes known as a mohogany
tide, H. rotundata has caused large nuisance blooms in several
portions
of the world.
