Dixie High School scares up fish for Lake Russell Halloween tournament

It was all treats and no tricks for the Dixie High School (Due West) Hornet Anglers in catching fish on Oct. 29 at Lake Russell. It turned out to be a beautiful fall day to be fishing with lots of sunshine out of Calhoun Falls State Park.

Abbeville High School Panther Fishing Team conducts inaugural Bass Fishing League tournament

The Abbeville High School Panther Fishing Team held its very first Youth Bass Fishing Club tournament on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Dorn Sport Fishing Facility on J. Strom Thurmond (Clarks Hill) Lake.

Dixie Hornet Anglers kick off Bass Fishing League season on Lake Secession

The Dixie High School (Due West) Hornet Anglers began the Youth Bass Fishing League Clubs season with a cold snap in the weather on Lake Secession on Sept. 17. The 20 Hornet Anglers caught 50 fish weighing 78.92 pounds and apparently the cooler weather that Saturday didn’t affect the fish bite.

Bonds Career Center Bass Fishing Club needs public support

The Bonds Career Center Bass Fishing Club, which currently has nine students from the Greer area, has kicked off their fishing season with a new fundraiser. Students will be selling gift tins of Country Meats Beef Sticks this fall. Every purchase helps pay for student uniforms, tournament travel and other club expenses. The team will redeem $5 for each 12 pack tin sold.

Two South Carolina youths compete for national bass fishing prestige

Two South Carolina youths, Alex Davenport and Kameron Harbin, traveled to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to compete on DeGray Lake in the National Guard Junior World Championship Aug. 11-13.

SC team finishes 7th out 101 in High School Fishing World Finals

A two brother team from the Barnwell County Career Center Bass Fishing Club, Cody and Trevor Jeffers, competed in the 2011 High School Fishing World Finals in Russellville, Arkansas on Lake Dardanelle July 20-22.

Dixie High School hooked the big ones

On one of the hottest days yet of the summer, six of the Youth Bass Fishing Clubs and one Bass Federation Junior Club competed for bragging rights as the State Bass Fishing Champions in the The Bass Federation of South Carolina Junior Championship on Lake Murray Saturday, May 21st.

Bragging rights for the state of South Carolina are on the line Saturday, May 21 at Dreher Island State Park. Six of the Youth Bass Fishing Clubs are competing for a chance to win the state championship.

Carolina Anglers fish Lake Wateree on March 26

The cold and rain didn't slow down the fishing on Lake Wateree on March 26 for the Carolina (Camden High School) Anglers. The team got underway early that day at 6:45 a.m. and everyone caught fish. The fish were on the beds, but couldn't be seen due to the clouds and rain and most were caught with jigs.

Occasional wind gusts, but balmy upper 60's temperatures provided a great day of fishing for the twenty-one members of the Dixie High School (Due West) Hornet Anglers on Lake Greenwood Feb. 26.
