Informational & Interest Meeting Outline

Who: invite all interested students, parents, fishing-oriented community partners, school faculty & staff (and the DNR too)

When: The Bass Fishing Season can run all school year beginning in August to May. However, students can continue to fish as a club during the summer months. The TBF of SC Junior Championship is usually in May, the TBF Student Angler Federation SC State High School Championship falls in the spring and the B.A.S.S Junior Bassmasters Program is in the Fall. Clubs can begin fishing at receipt of dues. TBF Junior and Student Angler Federation Clubs dues are due December 31st. BASS Junior Bassmaster Club dues are due December 31st of each year. However, the renewal period begins November 1 of each year. For example, if a member renews November 1, 2012, they are good through December 31, 2013.

Time: Make sure you schedule this initial interest meeting at a time when parents and any volunteers from the community can attend. A great time to start these types of meeting are anywhere from 6:30 to 7:30. Plan for your meeting to last at least an hour.

Where: Setup your meeting location at a room that will accommodate all folks in a friendly setting such as a band room, chorus/music room, lunchroom or library. Choose a room that will accommodate a video projector, screen and laptop.

What: Bass Teams of course! During this meeting, go through the Bass Club Overview Powerpoint (PDF). It will take you step by step through each of the club’s requirements. Make sure to setup a final due and roster date as all dues and club rosters must be turned in to the TBF by December 31st and BASS by December 31st. Allow time at the end for questions and have students sign up on the signup sheets, parents/volunteers interested in helping sign up on the Bass Booster Club Sheet.
