We need your Help!
Each year Beach Sweep River Sweep is coordinated by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium but it is the volunteers, like you, that make the event such a success. Read on to see how you can help out with this year's Sweep.
Be a Volunteer or a Site Captain …
If you would like to participate, we'd be glad to have you join us as a volunteer! You may participate as a regular volunteer or as a site captain. Site captains are the volunteers who organize and lead a local cleanup effort, large or small. Regular volunteers are those who come out to pick up the trash. Site captains may register online at the Site Captain link and regular volunteers may contact and offer help to the site captains listed under cleanup sites.
Let us know about a litter hotspot that needs to be cleaned!
We cannot be at all places at all times so, as you are out enjoying the state's waterways and find lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, boat landings, recreational areas, or coastal areas in need of Beach Sweep River Sweep volunteers, please contact us. Each year we have volunteers looking to go where they are most needed. You know your communities best, with your help we can send volunteers to needy areas for the big statewide Beach Sweep/River Sweep event held every third Saturday in September.
