106; Gillisonville, May 30, 1898, and Santuck, May 26, 1911

In 1898, the year’s and month’s maximum high temperature occurred in Gillisonville on May 30th. Southeastern United States had temperatures above normal in May 1911. The period of greatest heat was on the 26th and this was when the current South Carolina May maximum temperature record was set. There were high temperatures above 100 degrees throughout the state.
