On December 9th, a winter storm spread 2 to 4 inches of snow, sleet and glaze over the mountains and upper piedmont. A coastal storm before Christmas produced record snowfall for South Carolina Atlantic coastal counties. Beaufort measured five inches, Charleston eight inches, and Myrtle Beach 14 inches. Single digit cold followed the snow. On Christmas morning, Brookgreen Gardens recorded four degrees.
