SOUTH CAROLINA WEATHER AND CLIMATE

WEATHER SUMMARY High pressure dominated the weather pattern for the week. Although sunshine was abundant, cold temperatures made for slow melting and drying of snow and ice from the previous week's storm. A moderate warmup began over the weekend with afternoon high temperatures easing into the low 60's.. Statewide temperatures for the period averaged six degrees below normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The maximum observed temperature was 63 degrees at Blackville on February 4. The minimum observed temperature was 15 degrees at Blackville on the morning of February 1 and at Cedar Creek on the 3rd. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 1.80" at Jamestown ending at 7:00 a.m. January 31. The average statewide rainfall for the period was 0.1".

RIVERS AND SURF

Most South Carolina rivers are normal or above normal. Surf temperatures at Myrtle Beach and Savannah will average around 45 degrees.
