WEATHER SUMMARY:

Warm weather visited on Monday with most of the state reporting afternoon high temperatures in the lower 80's. East to southeast winds on Tuesday cooled the air by around five degrees. The season's highest temperatures were recorded on Wednesday with Clemson AP warming to 84 degrees and Georgetown AP 85 degrees. Northeast winds on Thursday brought much cooler conditions and sprinkles across the south Midlands. A southwest to northeast boundary took position over the state on Friday with little movement through the weekend. Fog and drizzle were observed night and day into Sunday with parts of the Upstate receiving rains exceeding one-inch. The wavering boundary allowed Charleston AP to reach 78 degrees Sunday afternoon while Winnsboro peaked at 49 degrees. The state average temperature for the period was five degrees above normal.

The highest official temperature reported was 88 degrees at the USC campus in Columbia on March 11. The lowest official temperature reported was 37 degrees at Table Rock and York on March 14 and at Table Rock and Chesnee on March 15. The heaviest 24-hour rainfall reported was 1.38 inches at Long Creek ending at 7:00 a.m. on March 15. The state average rainfall for the period was 0.4 inches.
