WEATHER SUMMARY

The combination of moist, tropical air ahead of a slowly approaching front provided for welcomed rains during most of the week. Between Tuesday and Friday an average of nearly two inches of rainwater soaked into the state's thirsty soils. Cloudy skies kept afternoon high temperatures in the 80's and lowering into the 70's. The Father's Day weekend remained mostly cloudy and cool over western counties while eastern sites observed periods of light rain or drizzle. Statewide temperatures for the period averaged three degrees below normal.

PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE DATA

The maximum observed temperature was 95 degrees on June 14 at Cheraw. The minimum observed temperature was 50 degrees in Caesars Head on the morning of June 19. The heaviest official 24-hour rainfall was recorded at Loris with 3.32" ending at 7:00 a.m. on June 16. Statewide rainfall for the period averaged 1.9 inches.
