WEATHER SUMMARY:

At 1:00 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service office at Greer AP reported 56 degrees and light rain while a distant Charleston AP reported partly sunny skies and 76 degrees. Dense fog was observed Tuesday morning. At 8:00 a.m., relative humidity values of 100 percent were noted at Shaw AFB in Sumter, Columbia's Hamilton-Owens AP, Charleston AP, Florence AP and the Hilton Head AP. Barnwell and Pinopolis warmed up to 79 degrees. Pre-frontal rains, overnight and into Wednesday morning, left 1.64 inches at Jocassee Dam and 0.95 inches at Pickens. During the afternoon hours, winds gusted to 52 mph at Charleston and 48 mph at the Orangeburg AP. At 3:55 p.m., the Bennettsville AP recorded a minimum barometric pressure value of 29.56 inches of mercury. Rainfall amounts east of the Piedmont averaged around one-quarter of an inch. Walterboro's Wednesday afternoon 81-degree high temperature plummeted 44 degrees to a Thursday morning low temperature of 37 degrees. Sandy Run's Wednesday maximum of 73 degrees fell to a sub-freezing 30 degrees. High temperatures on Friday retreated back into the 50's and settled into that range for the weekend. On Saturday morning, the McEntire ANG AP reported 30 degrees. Florence and the N Myrtle Beach AP reached 57 degrees on Saturday afternoon. Sunday started with a frosty 31 degrees at Sandhill and McCormick. Automated instrumentation at the Darlington County Jetport recorded a surface barometric air pressure value of 30.61 inches of mercury at 10:55 a.m. Coastal clouds and brisk northeast winds kept the high temperature at the Myrtle Beach International AP and Edisto Beach to just 54 degrees. The state average temperature for the seven-day period was three degrees above normal.

The highest official temperature reported was 81 degrees at the Walterboro AP on December 7. The lowest official temperature reported was 24 degrees at Table Rock on December 11. The heaviest official 24-hour rainfall reported was 2.35 inches at Table Rock ending at 7:00 a.m. on December 7. The state average rainfall for the period was 0.4 inches.

South Carolina river stages were near to below normal. Ocean water temperatures at Springmaid Pier Myrtle Beach were reported at 57 degrees.
