Drought Response Committee Meeting February 23, 2007

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will conduct a Drought Response Committee Conference Call to discuss downgrading the moderate drought declaration for the Savannah Basin on Friday, February 23, 2007, at 10:00 AM.

The Committee declared a moderate drought on September 20, 2006, and maintained the declaration during the November 8, 2006, conference call.

Most locations in the basin have received near normal precipitation over the past 60 days. Lake levels in the basin have returned to near normal according to the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. The medium-range precipitation outlook for South Carolina is for above normal precipitation.
