South Drought Response Committee Conference Call

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will conduct a South Carolina Drought Response Committee Conference Call on Tuesday September 16, at 10:00 AM. The purpose of the drought conference call is to evaluate the drought status statewide.

Some areas of the state are showing signs of drought due to below normal rainfall over the last 60-days combined with above normal temperatures over the past few weeks. The committee will review climatic data, streamflow and lake level data, and drought impacts. Even though some portions of the State are not showing any signs of drought we thought it would be beneficial to convene the full committee since impacts vary county to county.

Contact South Carolina's State Climatologist, Dr. Hope Mizzell, at (803) 734-9568 or e-mail at mizzellh@dnr.sc.gov for more information.
