Educational Programs

  • Essay and Poster Contests - held annually by the Barnwell District. The contest promotes conservation education for our youth and recognized all winners in each grade.
  • Earth Day- Various programs are available by the District in all Barnwell County Schools to promote Earth Day. Programs include pollution, water quality, littering, soils, recycling,wildlife habitat, and backyard conseration.
  • Soil Stewardship Programs - Usually presented during Soil Stewardship Week, these programs vary in topics each yar. Food for the Future and The Living Soil are past topics explored. PowerPoint presentations are available for classroom or larger audiences.
  • Arbor Day-The District assistas with judging poster contests, helps organize programs for Arbor Day, and participates in tree and seed planting ceremonies. Information on Arbor Day is available through the District.
  • Workshops - The Barnwell District Sponsors the Carolina Coastal Adventure, the S.C. Institute for Natural Resources, and the Environthon Workshop.
  • Outdoor learning - The District provides assistance with developing outdoor classrooms and nature trails for hands-on learning.
