A memorial to a Jasper Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioner

Zenie IngramZenie Ingram (1940-2007)

A native of Jasper County, Zenie will be remembered affectionately as “Jasper County’s First Lady” for her many civic, economical, environmental, and historical contributions to the County she loved. She worked passionately to protect the natural resources, history, and environment of Jasper County and was an active member of the Jasper Soil & Water Conservation District, where she served as Secretary/Treasurer since becoming a commissioner in 1976.

Zenie took pride in one of the District’s biggest accomplishments – the Blue Heron Nature Center located in Ridgeland, SC. She paid particular attention to the Nature Center’s butterfly garden and adopted it as her own special project. She devoted many hours of hard labor to maintain the butterfly garden, as well as the rest of the nature trail, as a place where others could enjoy the beauty of nature in a natural setting. The Jasper Soil and Water Conservation District was privileged to have Zenie Ingram as a board member.

Donations for the Zenie Ingram Memorial Fund are being accepted at the Blue Heron Nature Center, 321 Bailey Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936. Please call (843) 726-7611 for more information.
