2006 Goose Creek Fishing Rodeo

The 2006 Goose Creek Youth Fishing Rodeo took place Saturday, May 6, and 325 area youth, from toddlers to 16-year olds, ventured out to enjoy a day of fishing. Over 200 adults accompanied the kids to the fishing rodeo.

S.C. Department of Natural Resources, along with the city of Goose Creek, hosted the event at the city’s municipal complex. The on-site lake was stocked with over 3900 pounds of channel catfish, and youth anglers were provided with bait and tackle that helped them catch species including catfish, shellcrackers, bluegill, largemouth bass and eel. The Goose Creek fishing rodeo is one in a series of youth fishing events statewide that promote hunting and fishing to area youth.
