DNR biologist Same Chappelear commented on the day's events, "The rodeo was a big success. The excitement on the faces of the kids who caught their first fish was indescribable."

Educational exhibits were also on display supporting the youth fishing day including SC Reel Kids, Take One Make One, Wildlife Management Division of DNR, Marine Resources Division of DNR, Archery in schools program, and Just Say No to Drug and Alcohol Abuse.

Prizes were awarded to youth anglers and included rod and reel combinations, tackle boxes, hats, t-shirts and fishing lures.
