Bennett's Bay Heritage Preserve
Directions
From Manning:
- take US 521 south to Foreston
- turn right onto County Road 50, go about .5 of a mile
- turn right onto County Road 211, go about 2.5 miles
- turn right onto a dirt road, go about 1 mile
- the entrance road to Bennett's Bay is on the right.

Along with their unusual shape, bays share several other features:
- The long axis of every bay is oriented along a northwest-southeast direction.
- Soils of the bay interior differ from soils outside the bay.
- Since interior soils are high in organic matter, they are hydric.
- Bays act as basins that collect rainwater runoff and hold it perched above the normal water table.
