Buzzard Roost Heritage Preserve

Directions

The preserve is about four hours from Columbia. Go 6 miles north of Walhalla to SC 28. Turn onto Whetstone Road, then Cassidy Bridge Road. Go 1 mile and watch closely for marker USFS Road 744 (Rich Mountain Road) to the entrance to the preserve. Drive about three miles up a curving gravel road. Turn left, then drive another mile to the hiking trail. Parking space is limited. Hikers can climb a moderate to strenuous trail loop to the top of Buzzard Roost Mountain.
