Hours of Operation

This preserve has no developed access. The small size and predominate sensitive wetlands restrict use. Visitation is allowed and research or group visits require a permit.

Contributions to the Endangered Wildlife Fund on the South Carolina Income Tax Form help to make the identification and management of these preserves possible.

Description

Clear Creek comprises 19 acres and contains the state’s second most important population of the rare plant species, bunched arrowhead. Known to occur in less than a dozen populations worldwide, bunched arrowhead is listed as “endangered” under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. Dense populations of these plants are found in three seepage areas on the property. Besides bunched arrowhead, the preserve harbors two species of state concern: green adder’s mouth and kidney-leaf twayblade.
