Eastatoe Creek Heritage Preserve

Directions

Eastatoe Creek Heritage Preserve is located within the DNR’s Jocassee Gorges Natural Area. To reach it, go north on US Highway 178 approximately 8 miles from its intersection with SC Highway 11 at Holly Springs. Turn left on Horsepasture Road (gravel) and follow it to the Foothills Trail parking area on the left side of the road. Walk up the road about 1/8 mile and turn left onto a roadbed with yellow blazes indicating you are on the spur trail of the Foothills Trail. Follow signs and markers as the trail follows old logging roads and descends to Eastatoe Creek. The trail length from the red gate on Horsepasture Road is 2.54 miles one way. Along Eastatoe Creek is a large level area for backpack camping. Keep in mind no camping is allowed within 50' of a stream and use only dead and down woody materials for campfires.
