Coastal Training Program
The CTP gathers information on decision maker needs through formal needs assessments and through ongoing contact with the coastal communities. In 2006-2007 the North Inlet/Winyah Bay and the ACE Basin CTPs formally surveyed the coastal counties and produced a report on the results (Adobe PDF - file size 1M) Training Needs Assessment of Professional Decision Makers in the Coastal Counties of South Carolina.
Based the formal and informal needs assessments, the ACE Basin CTP offers information and training on a wide variety of critical coastal issues. Subjects encompass a wide range of issues including:
- coastal habitat conservation
- restoration
- water quality
- sustainable development
- stormwater management
- land use planning.
Training can vary, with formats such as:
- seminars
- hands-on skill training
- workshops
- lectures
- technology demonstrations.
Attendees gain valuable information as well as opportunities to collaborate with other local professionals. Practical training is based on case studies whenever possible, aiming to create an engaging learning environment.
