Make plans now to attend the SCDNR Marine Resources Division Open House

The community is invited to participate on May 3, 2008, in a fun-filled educational day to check out information booths, educational seminars, instructive demonstrations and site tours at the Marine Resources Division.

"Our Open House gives us the chance to invite folks to come and see what's beyond the gates at the Marine Resources Center at Fort Johnson. We'll be showcasing the research and management work areas that help us make good decisions about our fisheries and coastal habitats."

All ages are welcome and kids can come check out how to be an SC Reel Kid, how the Take One Make One mentoring program works, fishing and cast netting demonstrations, fish printing, and touch tank displays.

To complement the Open House event taking place on Saturday, Fort Johnson is also the host-site for the Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund Marine Conservation Banquet and Auction on Friday evening, May 2nd from 6 - 10 p.m. The Saltwater Soiree will preview some DNR exhibits that will be on display during the Open House. The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation that partners with the SCDNR for the promotion of education, research, management and the administration of game and fish laws, which will benefit conservation of wildlife, marine and other natural resources in South Carolina.
