The “Impacts of Development of Estuarine Systems” will be presented at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24 at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort campus auditorium.
The presentation is part of the ACE Basin National Estuarine Research Reserve Seminar Series. The public is invited to attend, and reservations are not required. The featured speaker is Dr. Fred Holland, director of the Hollings Marine Lab in Charleston.
As development continues along the South Carolina coast, questions often arise regarding the actual impact of this activity on the natural coastal systems. Holland will discuss current knowledge on this topic and how his research is monitoring these changes.
For more information on the Aug. 24 seminar, contact Al Segars with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources at (843) 770-9908 or e-mail SegarsA@dnr.sc.gov.
