Council discusses possible scenic Lynches River canoe trail March 7

The Lynches Scenic River Advisory Council will discuss the formation of the proposed Lynches Scenic River Canoe Trail to run through Lee, Sumter, Darlington and Florence counties at a meeting on Tuesday, March 7.

The Lynches Scenic River Advisory Council welcomes community input regarding the proposed canoe trail at its upcoming meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at Woods Bay State Natural Area at 11020 Woods Bay Road in Olanta. The canoe trail will be the first scenic river canoe trail in the state. It will start in Bishopville at US 15 and run 54 miles to Lynches River County Park in Coward. The S.C. Department of Natural Resources, which is sponsoring the project, plans to fund the canoe trail with a grant from the Recreational Trails Program.
