Nominations for the 2006 Palmetto Wildlife Veterinary Award and the Palmetto Wildlife Rehabilitation Award are being accepted.
The awards are presented annually by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR), to spotlight veterinarians who help injured wildlife and wildlife rehabilitators who rehabilitate and release wildlife species back into the wild. Nominees should be members within the community who have made outstanding contributions to the health and well being of South Carolina’s wildlife. Nominations are evaluated on special achievements during the year, or for long-term efforts related to assisting with the care of the state’s wildlife.

A panel of DNR employees representing the different divisions within the agency will select the award winners. Nominations can be made by the veterinarian and rehabilitator community, the general public and DNR staff.
Nominations should include a one-page description of the efforts qualifying the nominee for the award, and the name, address, and phone number of the individual making the nominations. Nominations must be received by Dec. 20.
