The Aquatic Plant Management Council will meet 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15 in Columbia to review public comments for the draft 2007 State Aquatic Plant Management Plan for all public waters. Pictured is the Giant salvinia. Its one of the world’s most noxious aquatic weeds, is notorious for dominating slow moving or quiet freshwaters. Its rapid growth, vegetative reproduction and tolerance to environmental stress make it an aggressive, competitive species known to impact aquatic environments, water use and local economies.
