Research

The SCDNR MRD conducts a variety of research to monitor most aspects of diamondback terrapin life history. The following pages provide an overview of why each of these aspects of research is necessary, describe how SCDNR MRD researchers collect these data, highlight key findings to date, and identify areas where additional data are still needed. In many instances, input from citizen-scientists will greatly assist our ability to collect state-wide data, so we hope that these webpages inspire you to remain on the lookout for diamondback terrapins whenever you find yourself near the marsh.
