Palmetto Pintail Project:
Migration Maps

We want to provide you with the latest information learned as we collect and analyze the satellite data for the marked pintails. We will post information weekly or as the data become available. These maps will show current locations for all of the marked pintails. The color coding relates to where each bird was originally marked. Narratives are provided that describe where the birds are located and other general information. You can use the navigation buttons on the left corresponding to the individual pintail's icon to follow the bird's migration. Check back often to travel with the pintails through the seasons.

No movement this week. #39452 remains in the vicinity of Santee Coastal Reserve, her original capture location. Although duck season remains open until January 25, the pintail season has ended. Unless the instrumented hen is taken illegally, which is possible given the large amount of gunning pressure that occurs outside the area’s boundaries, it is possible but not probable that we could recapture her during winter-banding operations.
