Heavy rains associated with Hurricane Floyd accumulated 15 to 20 inches in Horry County. Floodwaters overwhelmed drainage systems and were reported 3 feet deep across the county. The Waccamaw River flooded more than 1700 dwellings and remained above the flood stage for 55 days. Myrtle Beach measured a total storm rainfall of 16.80 inches.
