October 2015

A quasi-stationary upper-level low created strong upper level divergence over the state that produced a record setting five-day rain event on October 1st-5th. The heaviest rains fell over the Midlands and the Lowcountry with five-day rainfall totals ranging from 14 to 27 inches. The heaviest rainfall rates occurred on October 3rd and 4th. This historical rain event caused multiple dam failures in Richland and Lexington Counties and subsequent catastrophic flooding.
