The rain free, sunny weather continued for another week. After a Monday of 80 degree warmth, a series of dry, cold fronts entered the state throughout the period to lower temperatures. Florence Airport reports less than a tenth of an inch of rain in October. Early morning temperatures on Friday and Saturday fell below freezing for the first time this season across western sites with reports of frost into the midlands. Indian Summer weather returned on Sunday as afternoon temperatures peaked in the mid 70's to near 80. Temperatures for the period averaged two degrees below normal.

The maximum observed temperature was 89 degrees on October 19 at Florence. The minimum observed temperature was 25 degrees at Cedar Creek on the morning of October 23. Statewide rainfall for the period averaged 0.0 inches.
