July/August 2017One for All and All for South Carolinaby Joey Frazier
Tourism groups partner with the SCDNR to promote fun in the Palmetto State.
My family rarely takes long vacations to far-away places. We prefer weekend getaways or day trips right here in South Carolina.
At first, you might think we are limiting ourselves by only traveling within the confines of our home state, but the reality is
quite the opposite. There is so much to see and do - especially outdoors - right here in our own backyard.
So what do you enjoy: hiking, camping, fishing, paddling, hunting, sunning, birding, photography? Well, South Carolina
has all that and much more in abundance - the question is where to begin? Like a pick two or pick three menu at your
favorite restaurant, the South Carolina Association of Tourism Regions (SCATR) offers "more than you can shake a stick
at," to quote my grandmother. You can get started by going to scatr.com and choosing one of the eleven tourism regions
listed on their home page. One click and you are on your way to a down home good time.
