July/August 2018Director Alvin Taylor Retires

Alvin Taylor, director of the SCDNR for more than seven years, retired May 16, 2019, after forty-two years of service to the citizens of South Carolina. Taylor began his storied career as a game warden with the wildlife agency. He worked in the field, served on the dive team and rose to the top rank of colonel. In 2012 he accepted the challenge to lead the entire agency as director. Although Alvin will be missed here at the agency, we wish him the very best as he begins a new chapter in his life.
