South Carolina Water Conservation Actions

October 29, 2007, SC Department of Natural Resources sent a survey to the 619 water systems in the state in an effort to compile data on how the systems are responding to the current drought. 263 surveys were returned as of February 7, 2008. Those surveys, combined with select phone surveys, resulted in the following statistics regarding South Carolina water conservation efforts. 45 water systems have implemented mandatory water restrictions, 146 water systems have implemented voluntary water restrictions, 124 have reported no water restrictions and 3 have both Voluntary and Mandatory water restrictions.
