Flooding cancels Saturday hunt on public dove field in Clarendon County

The morning dove hunt scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, on Oak Lea Wildlife Management Area public dove field in Clarendon County has been canceled due to flooding. The parking area and entrance road at Oak Lea are currently underwater.

The public dove field at Oak Lea WMA is owned by the S.C. Forestry Commission. The field is near Summerton and Pinewood.

The next public dove hunt at Oak Lea WMA is set for Saturday, Sept. 26.

Public dove fields are available all over South Carolina, providing recreation for dove hunters who don’t have access to private fields. The public dove field program is coordinated by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
