The 2021 season will close for bear in Game Zone 4 at 11:59 p.m., on Saturday, October 23, 2021. It is legal to continue hunting in Game Zone 4 until the conclusion of the official closure time listed in this advisory. Any bears harvested prior to the closure must still be reported. The harvest reporting system will remain open through October 30, 2021, as other bear hunting zones in the state remain open for hunting.

This early season closure only impacts the bear season in Game Zone 4, which includes private land in Georgetown, Horry, Marion and Williamsburg counties, as well as the following WMAs: Cartwheel Bay Heritage Preserve WMA, Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve WMA, Little Pee Dee River Heritage Preserve Complex, Waccamaw River Heritage Preserve WMA, and Wee Tee WMA.

This harvest quota closure is pursuant to SC Code of Laws Title 50-11-430 and SC Code of Regulations Chapter 123-53. Anyone bear hunting in Georgetown, Horry, Marion, or Williamsburg counties or in the above listed WMAs after the official closure time as stated in this advisory on October 22, 2021 may be charged with hunting bears during a closed season.

Bear season in Game Zone 1 remains open until October 30. The harvest quota in Game Zone 2 has not been reached and it remains open at this time.
