WEEKLY SOUTH CAROLINA WEATHER 2017

October 16, 2017 - October 22, 2017

WEATHER SUMMARY:

The week's weather began with a cold front passing over the state on Monday. The front triggered light rain showers. No thunderstorms were reported. The Rock Hill Airport reported 0.43 inches of rain. Lesser amounts fell south and east of York County. Before the front reached the coast, the Beaufort Marine Corps Air Station recorded a high temperature of 89 degrees.

With Monday's cold front offshore on Tuesday morning, high pressure built in over the state for the rest of the week. Cool, dry air settled in for pleasant fall weather. Crisp cool mornings, low humidity and clear skies persisted into the weekend. A CoCoRaHS station in Greer noted a light frost on Wednesday morning. The Jocassee COOP site reported morning low temperatures of 32 and 31 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. The Orangeburg COOP site had a Thursday high temperature of 85 degrees.

The high pressure system that dominated the week's weather shifted slowly east on Sunday. A weak coastal trough developed Sunday that produced scattered rain showers. The Charleston Air Force Base reported 0.46 inches of rain and a high temperature of 82 degrees.
