Sturgeon coloration difference

Atlantic sturgeon have dark bronze to brown sides that fade to lighter browns on the sides with a white belly. When compared to Shortnose they are darker in appearance. The Shortnose is a lighter brown with pink or salmon colored overtones.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sturgeon Mouth Difference -

Atlantic sturgeon on the left has a narrow mouth and the Shortnose sturgeon on the right has a larger mouth and shorter snout which is bluntly V-shaped.
