SCDNR to host field day at Wateree River Heritage Preserve WMAAugust 15, 2016
As part of a year-long celebration of 75 years of wildlife management areas in South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) is hosting a field day at Wateree River Heritage Preserve Wildlife Management Area (WRHP) near Eastover in Richland County on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The field day at the WRHP will offer a number of special programs and activities led by the DNR's wildlife section staff and other outdoor professionals. SCDNR has provided public outdoor recreation opportunities on more than 1 million acres of land across the state for more than 75 years though the WMA program.
Wateree River Heritage Preserve WMA is bordered by the Wateree River and sits on the Richland County-Sumter County line.
Participants will be able to take part in the following activities as a part of the field day:
- Bird ID walk and bird banding demo
- Reptile and amphibian programs
- Archaeology programs
- Rocket net demonstration
- Furbearer trapping demo and track casting
- Wildlife photography
- WMA tours
This event is a perfect opportunity to explore the Wateree River Heritage Preserve Wildlife Management Area, just one of the many wildlife management areas across the state.

There will be plenty of other activities throughout the day that are not space-limited. Pre-register for Wateree River HP/ WMA Field Day.
