Deer Lottery Hunt Site Information

1. Each hunt will consist of one half-day hunt (afternoon of the first day drawn) and 2 full days for the last 2 days.
2. The limit for each hunt period is 3 deer. Only 1 buck may be harvested per hunter. Button bucks will be tagged as antlerless deer.
3. All drawn hunters will be allowed to use their own portable stand (only one portable stand per person). Hunting will be allowed in designated areas. No man drives or stalking will be allowed.
4. Drawn hunters must report to the Bear Island check station by 1:00 pm the first day of the hunt for orientation. Hunters will be required to sign in and out at the check station for each hunt day. Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout from 7:00 am until noon the first day of the hunt period and between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on the remaining hunt days. Maps will be available at the check station.
5. Weapons must be unloaded and secured in a weapons case, or in the trunk of a vehicle, or in a locked toolbox except while legally hunting.
6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Drawn hunters may camp at the primitive campground at Bear Island WMA during their hunt period or the commercial campground at Wood Brothers in Green Pond. Motel accommodations are available in nearby Walterboro.

Directions: Bear Island is located in Colleton County approximately 40 miles south of Charleston and 30 miles east of Walterboro, off of Hwy 17. To reach the check station from Hwy. 17, turn onto Bennett’s Point Road (SC-26) and proceed 13 miles to Bear Island. The road to the check station is on the left approximately 1 mile after crossing the Ashepoo River and marked by a sign.

2. The limit for each hunt period is 3 deer. Only 1 legal buck may be harvested per hunter. Only 2 antlerless deer may be harvested per hunter. Only 1 antlerless deer per day. Legal bucks are those with 4 points on one side or a 12" minimum inside spread. Spikes are not legal. Button bucks will be tagged as antlerless deer.
3. All drawn hunters will be allowed to use their own portable stand (only one portable stand per person). Hunting will be allowed in designated areas. No man drives or stalking will be allowed.

Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout from 7:00 am until noon the first day of the hunt period and between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on the remaining hunt days. Maps will be available at the check station.

6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Primitive camping is available to drawn applicants and only during their scheduled hunt. Motel accommodations are available in nearby Newberry.

Directions: Belfast WMA is located in Newberry County. From Columbia, take I-26 west to Exit 72/SC-121. Turn left and drive for 1.8 mi. Turn right on US-76/Wilson Rd. and drive for 10.8 mi. You will pass through the towns of Jalapa and Gary. Turn left onto SC-560 in Kinards and go 5.9 mi. Turn left on SC-56 and go 0.4 mi. The Belfast Plantation house will be on the right. From Greenville/Spartanburg, take I-26 East to Exit 52. Turn right onto SC-56, go 13 mi. SC-56 takes three turns (left-right-left) in Clinton while it is joined with SC-72. Pay attention to the signs. Cross SC 560 and continue on SC 56 for 0.4 mi. The Belfast Plantation house will be on the right.

4. Drawn hunters must report to the Bonneau Ferry WMA front gate by 1:00 pm the first day of the hunt for orientation. Hunters must comply with vehicle hang tag procedures while on site. Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout from 7:00 am until noon the first day of the hunt period and between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on the remaining hunt days, as well as all day on any day with no scheduled hunt. Maps will be available at the front gate.
5. Weapons must be unloaded and secured in a weapons case except when legally hunting.
6. Motel accommodations are available in nearby Moncks Corner.

Directions: Bonneau Ferry WMA is located at 2783 Hwy 402, Cordesville, SC 29434. From I-26 take exit 199. Follow Hwy 17 A to Moncks Corner. Turn left on Hwy 52. Cross Tailrace Canal, take first right on Hwy 402 toward Cordesville. Travel 9.1 miles to Bonneau Ferry, which will be on the right (less than 1 mile past railroad tracks in Cordesville).

Maps will be available at the check station.

6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Motel and camping accommodations are available on nearby Edisto Island.

Directions: Botany Bay Plantation WMA is located south of Charleston on Edisto Island off of Hwy 174 and approx. 18 mi. from US17. To reach the property, travel down Hwy 174 approx. 18 mi. to Botany Bay Rd. Turn left onto Botany Bay Rd. and follow this road to the end. Turn left through the main gates and follow the main road to the check station.

Hunters will be required to sign in and out at the check station for each hunt day. Hunters must mark their hunting location on the map located at the skinning shed. Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout from 7:00 am until noon the first day of the hunt period and between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on the remaining hunt days. Maps will be available at the check station.
5. Weapons must be unloaded and secured in a weapons case, or in the trunk of a vehicle, or in a locked toolbox except while legally hunting.
6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Hotel and camping accommodations are available in nearby Point South.

Directions: Coosawhatchie is located in Jasper County. From Columbia or Charleston, Take exit 28 (Coosawhatchie) from I95 and take right. At stop sign, take a right on Hwy 462. Drive about .5 mile and turn left and continue on Hwy 462. Drive approximately 1.7 miles and turn right onto Stock Farm Rd. The entrance is 1.14 miles on the right. The check station will be located about a mile into the property.

2. The limit for each hunt period is 3 deer. Only 1 buck may be harvested per hunter. Button bucks will be tagged as antlerless deer.
3. All drawn hunters will be allowed to use their own portable stand (only one portable stand per person). Hunting will be allowed in designated areas. Hunters will be allowed to sit in permanent stands already in place on Donnelley WMA. These stands may not be relocated by hunters. No man drives or stalking will be allowed.
4. Drawn hunters must report to the Donnelley WMA check station by 1:00 pm the first day of the hunt for orientation. Hunters will be required to sign in and out at the check station for each hunt day. Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout from 7:00 am until noon the first day of the hunt period and between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on the remaining hunt days. Maps will be available at the check station.
5. Weapons must be unloaded and secured in a weapons case, or in the trunk of a vehicle, or in a locked toolbox except while legally hunting.
6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Drawn hunters may camp at the primitive campground at Bear Island WMA during their hunt period (Please note that camping at Bear Island campground will not be available beginning Nov 1 as the property is closed to public access to reduce disturbance for upcoming waterfowl hunts) or the commercial campground at Wood Brothers in Green Pond. Motel accommodations are available in nearby Walterboro.

Directions: Donnelley is located in Colleton County approximately 40 miles south of Charleston and 15 miles east of Walterboro, SC near Hwy. 17. To reach the check station from Hwy. 17, turn onto Bennett’s Point Road (SC-26) and proceed approximately 4 miles to the marked entrance of the gravel road to the area. The check station is located 2 miles from the intersection.

1. Each hunt slot consists of one half-day hunt period and two full-day hunt periods.
2. The limit for each hunt period is 3 deer. Only 1 legal buck may be harvested per hunter. Legal bucks are those with 4 points on one side or a 12" minimum inside spread. Spikes are not legal. Button bucks will be tagged as antlerless deer.
3. All drawn hunters will be allowed to use their own portable stand (only one per person) and select their own hunting location. No portable or permanent stands will be provided. No man drives or stalking will be allowed.
4. Drawn hunters must report to the picnic shed at the Webb Wildlife Center at 1 p.m. on Thursday. No hunting is allowed prior to check-in. Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout one day prior, daylight to 12pm on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday 10am-2pm of the week they are drawn. Hunters must mark their hunting location on the map located at the skinning shed. The map and marking pins will be available Wednesday prior to hunt by noon.
5. All weapons must be unloaded and secured in a weapons case, or in the trunk of a vehicle, or in a locked toolbox except while legally hunting.
6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Primitive camping is available to drawn applicants and only during their scheduled hunt.
7. Motel accommodations are available in nearby Estill, Hampton, Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

Directions: Proceed on U.S. Highway 321 in Hampton County and turn on S.C. Highway 20 (Augusta Stagecoach Road) in Garnett. The entrance is on the left, approximately 4 miles northwest of the intersection of U.S. Highway 321 and S.C. Highway 20 in Garnett.

1. Each hunt slot consists of one half-day hunt period and two full-day hunt periods.
2. The limit for each hunt period is 3 deer. Only 1 legal buck may be harvested per hunter. Legal bucks are those with 4 points on one side or a 12" minimum inside spread. Spikes are not legal. Button bucks will be tagged as antlerless deer.

Ramsey Grove is a future South Carolina State Park that is currently closed to the public. Thanks to a partnership with the SC Department of Natural Resources, a lottery hunt will allow certain hunters limited access to the property on specific dates.

Ramsey Grove is approximately 2,600 acres located about 11 miles north of Georgetown along Hwy 701 and the Black River. It is primarily loblolly pine with about 20 acres of wildlife openings under various management strategies (some planted in summer crops, winter crops, winter disk/natural veg, etc.). There are some fairly significant mixed timber and hardwood draws along drainages throughout the property.

Drawn hunters will receive instructions on accessing the property once selected.

1. This hunt consists of 2 ½ days of hunting beginning on Thursday afternoon after orientation. Selected hunters are required to attend to orientation at 12:00 PM on the first day of the hunt at the SCDNR field office in Bennett’s Point (McKenzie Field Station, 15717 Bennett’s Point Road, Green Pond, SC).
2. Data card will be provided at orientation and must be filled out at the completion of the hunt and deposited in the box located at the main dock check station on the island.
3. Access to the island is by boat ONLY and you must furnish your own transportation.
4. Boat docking is available at the South Fenwick Island dock (32°31'37.84"N 80°24'34.21"W). Due to limited dock space, all hunters are expected to allow safe and secure docking of other vessels during your hunt period.
5. Only archery equipment is allowed (longbows, recurve bows, compound bows, and crossbows).
6. Hunters are responsible for locating their own hunting locations and marking those locations on the map located at the main dock check station on the island.
7. Stands are not provided. Hunters may furnish their own portable stand (only one per person).
8. The bag limit will be two deer per hunter. Each hunter is limited to 1 antlered buck during the hunt (1 buck & 1 doe or 2 does).
9. Primitive camping is available on the island in designated area to selected applicants, only during their scheduled hunt dates.
10. Scouting is allowed when no hunts are taking place.

Directions to orientation: Proceed on US Hwy 17 in Colleton County to the intersection of State Secondary Road S-15-26 (Bennett's Point Road) located 3 miles east of Green Pond and 8 miles west of Jacksonboro. Continue approximately 13 miles on S-15-26. After crossing the Ashepoo River, proceed approximately 5 miles and turn left into the McKenzie Field Station entrance.

1. Each hunt will consist of one half-day hunt (afternoon of the first day drawn) and 2 full days for the last 2 days.
2. The limit for each hunt period is 2 deer. Only 1 legal buck may be harvested per hunter. Only 1 antlerless deer may be harvested per hunter. Legal bucks are those with 4 points on one side or a 12" minimum inside spread. Spikes are not legal. Button bucks will be tagged as antlerless deer.
3. All drawn hunters will be allowed to use their own portable stand (only one portable stand per person). Hunting will be allowed in designated areas. No man drives or stalking will be allowed.
4. Drawn hunters must report to the Wateree check station by 1:00 pm the first day of the hunt for orientation. Hunters will be required to sign in and out at the check station for each hunt day. Drawn hunters will be allowed to scout from 7:00 am until noon the first day of the hunt period and between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on the remaining hunt days. Maps will be available at the check station.

6. No meals or lodging will be provided. Motel accommodations are available in nearby Sumter.

Directions: From Columbia proceed east on U.S. Highway 378 for approximately 15 miles in Richland County cross over U.S. Highway 601 and continue for another 2 miles until you come to Goodwill Baptist Church. After Goodwill Baptist Church take a left onto Goodwill Road. Follow this dirt road to the check station.

1. This hunt consists of one day of scouting and stand placement (Wednesday) and 3 full days of hunting (Thursday -Saturday). On Wednesday, November 2, hunters will be able to scout the area and place portable stands. No hunting will be allowed on this day. Scouting and stand placement will also be permitted from 10 a.m. - 2p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Applicants who are selected are required to report to the Webb Wildlife Center at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2 for check-in and a mandatory orientation program.
2. ONLY ARCHERY EQUIPMENT (longbows, recurve bows, compound bows and crossbows) will be permitted.
3. Existing Webb Center stands may be used, but most are not suitable for archery hunting. We encourage hunters to utilize their own portable stands during this hunt. Hunters will be responsible for locating their own hunting locations and marking those locations on the map at the check station. The map and marking pins will be available by 8 a.m. on Thursday morning. Hunters can change locations during the course of the hunt. Hunters will be required to sign in and out each day at the check station.
4. Each hunter will be limited to one antlered buck during the hunt. A legal antlered buck must have 4 points on one side or a minimum 12" inside spread. The bag limit on this hunt will be two deer per hunter (1 legal buck and 1 doe or 2 does). Feral hogs and coyotes are also legal game during these hunts and have no bag limit. Hunters are required to bring all harvested deer to the check station.

Directions: Proceed on U.S. Highway 321 in Hampton County and turn on S.C. Highway 20 (Augusta Stagecoach Road) in Garnett. The entrance is on the left, approximately 4 miles northwest of the intersection of U.S. Highway 321 and S.C. Highway 20 in Garnett.

1. Two half-day hunts are scheduled. Hunts will be conducted on the afternoon of the first day and morning of the second day. Applicants who are selected will report to the Webb Wildlife Center at 1:00 p.m. on the first day of the hunt for check-in and an orientation program. Cost of the hunt includes the evening meal, overnight accommodations and breakfast. Linens are provided.
2. All gun hunting will be from assigned stands. Only centerfire rifles .22 caliber and larger and muzzleloaders .36 caliber and larger are allowed. Archery equipment, rimfire rifles, handguns, and shotguns are not permitted. Pneumatic guns or guns firing an arrow, bolt, or similar type of projectile are not permitted. All hunters must wear a visible coat, vest, or hat of International Orange color while hunt is in progress. Youth under age 16 must hunt in the same stand as an accompanying adult.
