Status of Watercraft Applications

Since our agency's mission is to Empower South Carolinians to Live Life Outdoors, we are encouraged by the influx of watercraft applications we have received this year. However, due to varying levels of staffing restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, our current turnaround time may be in excess of the 60 day allowance on the temporary certificate of number.

If your application has reached or exceeded the 60 day allowance, please continue to operate your watercraft as desired. In an effort to not inconvenience our customers, our Law Enforcement Officers are aware that our processing times are sometimes beyond the 60 days and are exercising discretion when they encounter these situations.

Please note: it is still the customer's responsibility to ensure they have completed and submitted the required documentation to title and register the watercraft in a timely manner and to maintain copies of proof with them at all times.

Our staff are working diligently to expedite these applications and the processing time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.

In accordance with an executive order issued by Gov. McMaster, face coverings are to be worn inside all state government buildings starting Wednesday, Aug. 5.
