Information on this page applies to recreational harvest only. Commercial harvesters must obtain appropriate permits and maps from the Marine Permit office at 217 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston. Call (843) 953-9311 for more information on commercial harvesting.

Areas bordered in red and labeled "R###" are public shellfish grounds and are open for recreational harvest only. Areas bordered in green and labelled "S###" are state shellfish grounds which are available for recreational and commercial harvest. Areas labeled "C###" are culture permits. Permission of the culture permit holder is needed to harvest on these areas. Select the area of interest from the list below to get close up maps of the shellfish grounds.

Shading denotes SCDHEC harvest classifications. Recreational harvest is not allowed in areas colored red or orange. Areas colored yellow may be closed to shellfishing after heavy rainfall. Check with SCDHEC prior to harvesting by calling 1-800-285-1618. The SCDHEC management areas are outlined in blue. Additional information on SCDHEC shellfish ground classifications may be found at http://www.scdhec.gov/environment/water/sfareas.htm.
