Date County Description
February 10, 1990 Oconee (F1) A small tornado touched down in Oconee County during the early morning hours. The tornado struck a highly populated area, but because of the early morning hour, most people were safely asleep in their homes. A mobile home park near Seneca sustained $120,000 in damages and one person was injured.
February 10, 1990 Pickens (F1) A small tornado was observed 3 miles NW of Clemson. Many mobile homes and permanent structures accrued damages.
February 10, 1990 Pickens (F1) A small tornado caused damage on 86 dwellings and many businesses. Total damage was estimated at about $300,000.
February 10, 1990 Greenville (F0) A weak tornado struck the Haywood Mall area at 8:00 AM EST. The tornado blew the facing off a storefront, blew down light poles, broke some glass and damaged some signs. The tornado skipped several times and then struck the Pelham Road area causing damage to homes and apartments.
February 10, 1990 Spartanburg (F0) A small tornado damaged several homes and picked up one mobile home.
February 16, 1990 Kershaw (F0) A funnel cloud that developed in Lexington County traveled eastward, touched down, briefly uprooted some trees and damaged a house 5 miles NE of Camden.
April 28, 1990 Spartanburg (F0) Several funnel clouds were observed moving slowly over the city at about 5:10 PM EST. A tornado touched down causing trees to be blown on to homes and power lines to come down.
April 28, 1990 Spartanburg (F1) A tornado touched down at Inman and produced considerable damage and four injuries; two when a mobile home was destroyed, one was hit by a truck that was blown off the road, and the last was struck with an object that flew through the window.
April 28, 1990 Cherokee (F1) A tornado touched down east of Gaffney. Damage was limited mostly to trees and utilities, but at least three permanent structures were damaged.
May 4, 1990 Laurens (F0) A small tornado touched down briefly causing some damage mainly to tombstones in a cemetery.
August 6, 1990 Marlboro (F0) A small tornado blew a car 107 feet, damaged several buildings, and cut a path through trees.
August 29, 1990 Berkeley (F1) A tornado occurred knocking down numerous trees and power lines. Power outages lasted almost a day.
October 22, 1990 Calhoun (F2) A tornado killed an 11 year old girl and injured four other persons. Three mobile homes and several other structures were damaged.

1991

Date County Description
February 14, 1991 Pickens (F1) A tornado mowing from the SW to the NE uprooted many trees and damaged numerous homes and mobile homes. The damage path of the tornado implies that the tornado never actually touched the ground.
March 1, 1991 Aiken (F2) A tornado moving from west to east caused damage to a stand of timber at the Savannah River Site.
March 2, 1991 Darlington (F0) A tornado injured two people, destroyed five mobile homes, and caused structural damage on several other mobile homes and a house.
March 3, 1991 Aiken (F2) Two separate tornadoes moving from SW to NE damaged a stand of timber on the Savannah River Site. One of these tornadoes had a five mile long path, the other a six mile long path.
March 29, 1991 Aiken (F2) A tornado briefly touched down causing impressive damage to trees and power poles. The 20 inch diameter poles were snapped 15 feet off the ground and trees were snapped and dropped off.
March 29, 1991 Chesterfield (F0) A tornado injured four individuals (two critically), destroyed two mobile homes and damaged five others.
March 29, 1991 Marlboro (F1) A tornado damaged nine homes and five barns in its 1.5 mile long path. Damages ranged from minor to moderate.
April 29, 1991 Greenwood (F0) A small tornado touched down near Dyson, but caused only minor damages to trees and power lines.
May 5, 1991 Clarendon (F0) A small tornado touched down briefly and tossed a 30 ft trailer onto a house. No one was injured.

1992

Date County Description
February 25, 1992 Aiken (F0) A tornado moving from west to east removed shingles from rooftops, downed one chimney on a residence, and blew an automobile 50 ft.
June 4, 1992 Union (F0) Two week tornadoes developed out of the same thunderstorm complex. Damage was mainly limited to trees and power lines.
June 21, 1992 Edgefield (F1) A tornado caused tree and power pole damage to a forested area. Large hail accompanied the tornado. Power outages were numerous throughout the area.
July 5, 1992 Chesterfield (F0) A small tornado lifted a roof off an enclosed mobile home. It also destroyed a tobacco barn and blew some shingles off another home. The storm was accompanied by golf-ball sized hail.
November 22, 1992 McCormick,
Edgefield,
Saluda,
Newberry
(F3) A tornado crossing into SC from Georgia traveled on a north-northeast path while changing in intensity from F0 to F3. It was rated an F3 when it destroyed a home, killing one occupant and injuring another. Eight other persons were injured. Numerous trees were downed, Saluda county had 14 houses, nine mobile homes, and five businesses destroyed. Many other mobile homes were damaged in these counties. A parked car and truck were thrown from a garage into a nearby field, and an A- frame house was moved off its foundation.

November 22, 1992 Fairfield (F0) A tornado touched down near Winnsboro blowing down numerous trees.
November 22, 1992 Fairfield (F1) A tornado touched down near SC Highway 34 and Interstate 77, blowing cars off I-77 and trees and power lines onto both highways. One house was also damaged.

1993

Date County Description
February 21, 1993 Anderson (F1) A tornado touched down in the center of Belton. Most damage occurred from large trees falling on homes and businesses.
February 22, 1993 Lexington (F1) A tornado clipped off or uprooted numerous trees along a .5 mile path. Several small structures were damaged.
March 23, 1993 Oconee (F0) This tornado spun a car around on the highway.
March 23, 1993 Greenville (F0) This tornado tossed a large boat out of Lake Keowee onto land and damaged several boathouses. The tornado skipped across the ground for about five miles. Most damage was downed trees and power lines.
March 23, 1993 Anderson (F0) This tornado moved a mobile home off its foundation and trees were downed in an area.
March 31, 1993 Pickens (F0) This tornado never actually reached the ground but several cars were blown off the road on Highway 123 in Easley. Trees and power lines were also downed throughout the area.
April 15, 1993 Greenwood and
Laurens
(F1) A tornado left a mostly continuous 4-mile path through Greenwood and Laurens counties. Trees and power lines were blown down all along the path. Chimneys were blown off some houses and large trees fell on several structures. A couple of mobile homes were damaged, one almost destroyed. A steeple was blown off a church and numerous trees were blown down.
April 15, 1993 Union (F2) A tornado struck Union causing damages at around $500,000. Plate glass windows were blown out in the downtown area. There was also considerable damage done to trees and power lines from wind-driven hail. Large trees crushed some homes and a falling tree crushed a car with two people in it. The two people suffered injuries. Mobile homes and houses were damaged and destroyed and the area hospital accrued $50,000 in water damages.
May 4, 1993 Fairfield (F0) A tornado dipped down, destroyed a lake house and several large trees.
May 19, 1993 Sumter (F0) A tornado touched down in a wooded portion of Runneymeade Community, four miles north of Sumter. The tornado downed trees and damaged several homes.
May 25, 1993 Union (F0) A tornado snapped off some trees and damaged the porch on a house in Fairview. Some billboards and trees were blown down and a few sheds and outbuildings were destroyed. Power was off in the area for a few hours.
June 22, 1993 Georgetown (F0) A tornado of waterspout origin came in from the inlet side of Garden City and severely damaged roofs of four homes. Furnishings in these homes were strewn about by the winds.
July 5, 1993 Darlington (F0) A small tornado was observed crossing Highway 151. It destroyed several homes and a flea market.

1994

Date County Description
March 27, 1994 Oconee (F3) This tornado had a 1 mile wide width when it crossed the Georgia/South Carolina state line near Tallulah Falls. Property damage was about $3 million and crop damage to apple orchards and timber was another $2.5 million. Nearly 60 homes in Oconee County were severely damaged or destroyed. 12 people were reported injured.
March 27, 1994 Spartanburg (F1) This tornado traveled across extreme northern Spartanburg County to the Arrowood Community, northwest of Chesnee. Damage resulted to outbuildings, roofs of homes, trees, and power lines.
March 27, 1994 Spartanburg
and Cherokee
(F2) This was the third tornado generated from a severe storm moving across northern Spartanburg. Two mobile homes were destroyed, a home was severely damaged and three power transmission towers were torn down. Many trees and power lines were downed.

(F1) A second supercell finally yielded its first tornado in Lyman where damage was primarily to trees and power lines. Two separate commercial areas were hit with roofs being torn off some buildings and substantial damage to a power substation. Four people were injured in cars hit by falling trees.
March 27, 1994 York (F1) This tornado destroyed one mobile home and damaged several others. One outbuilding completely disappeared, many trees were downed, and one person was injured.
March 28, 1994 Greenville (F0) A brief tornado removed the roof of a garage, tossed a boat around, downed a large oak tree, and cause other minor damages.
April 16, 1994 Chester (F2) This short lived, but intense tornado completely disintegrated three mobile homes, crushed three barns, destroyed a new pick-up truck, damaged four other mobile homes, seriously injured four people, and killed one person. More than 2000 residents lost electrical power.
June 6, 1994 Calhoun (F0) A small tornado was observed on I-26 near St. Matthews. Damage was minimal.
June 7, 1994 Dorchester (F0) This small tornado damaged a mobile home and metal sheds seven miles SW of Moncks Corner.
June 26, 1994 Oconee (F2) This tornado blew the roofs off of several well built homes and downed numerous large trees. About 25 homes were damaged. A 15 year old girl was injured when the roof of her mobile home caved in.
June 27, 1994 Pickens (F1) This tornado caused about $50,000 in damage to homes, outbuildings, and sheds. The storm also downed many trees.
June 30, 1994 Beaufort (F0) A waterspout moved over a small portion of Lady's Island briefly touching the ground.
August 1, 1994 Colleton (F0) A tornado blew down trees, damaged the roof of a farm building, several cars, and some farm equipment.
August 16, 1994 Bamberg (F1) This tornado was up and down many times topping trees. One mobile home was overturned and heavily damaged.
August 16, 1994 Orangeburg (F1) This tornado downed trees and power lines at Neese.
August 16, 1994 Lexington (F2) No description.
August 16, 1994 Lexington (F0) A tornado touched down and damaged trees and a home in SE Edmund.
August 16, 1994 Lexington (F2) A tornado demolished the northern portion of a mini-warehouse complex. It also overturned three cars in Redbank and blew down trees and power lines.
August 16, 1994 Lexington (F3) A tornado caused major damage to the Glassmaster factory in Lexington. The tornado stayed mainly on the ground as it passed near a nursing home and into the Secret Cove area at Lake Murray. The storm dissipated over Lake Murray. Approximately 200 homes were damaged, along with many businesses, churches and public buildings. 40 people were injured and 15,000 customers were without electrical power.
August 16, 1994 Richland (F0) This small tornado took down quite a few trees and power lines.
August 16, 1994 Lexington (F0) A funnel cloud was observed by the FAA control tower and National Weather Service personnel at Columbia Airport. The tornado destroyed a small area of timber near the airport.
August 16, 1994 Richland (F1) A tornado caused damage mainly to trees and power lines near Balentine.
August 16, 1994 Newberry (F1) A tornado took down trees and power lines and damaged some roofs of homes near Peak.
August 16, 1994 Lexington (F3) A tornado completely demolished a square stick frame home.
August 16, 1994 Fairfield (F0) A tornado touched down in a rural area, taking out trees.
August 16, 1994 Kershaw (F0) A small tornado blew down trees and power lines near Liberty Hill.
August 16, 1994 Greenwood (F0) A brief tornado touched down near Ware Shoals. Several trees and power lines were downed and a roof was blown off of a shed.
August 16, 1994 Union and Spartanburg (F3) This tornado began as a large multi-vortex tornado. A well constructed home near Santuc was destroyed, a stationary vehicle was thrown about 150 yards, and many other homes and structures received severe damages.
August 16, 1994 Union, Spartanburg, and Cherokee (F3) This tornado followed the one above just a few minutes later. It blew the roof off a restaurant and damaged many nearby mobile homes and houses.
August 16, 1994 Cherokee (F1) This brief tornado caused damage to a well constructed house. Otherwise, damage was limited to trees and power lines.
August 16, 1994 Cherokee (F2) This tornado caused substantial damage to homes and several churches.
August 16, 1994 Union and Cherokee (F2) This tornado struck near Lockhart, where a woman was injured when her mobile home was destroyed. The mobile home was picked up with the woman and her son inside and tossed about 100 yards. Two brick homes were destroyed in the same area. A church and some houses were destroyed near Gowdeysville.
August 16, 1994 Fairfield (F2) A tornado blew down large trees and ripped off a roof of a home near Ridgeway.
August 16, 1994 Fairfield (F0) A small tornado touched down and took out trees.
August 16, 1994 York (F0) A small tornado damaged an area of trees.
August 16, 1994 Chester (F1) A small tornado touched down and blew down trees.
September 18, 1994 Orangeburg (F1) A tornado touched down in a field, then took half the roof off a country store in Cope, spreading debris downstream. Many power lines were downed.
September 24, 1994 Florence (F1) A big white tornado picked up two mobile homes, twisted them in the air and tore them apart. Six other mobile homes were damaged. One woman was thrown from a mobile home and seriously injured. Three homes, six cars, and two businesses were damaged. Power lines and trees were downed, a roof was blown off a lumber company's show room, and 11 people received minor injuries.
October 22, 1994 Spartanburg (F0) A small tornado damaged the roof of a home and a barn. An outbuilding was destroyed.
December 4, 1994 Abbeville (F1) A small tornado struck suddenly from a relatively weak thunderstorm. The tornado damaged homes, destroyed several outbuildings, and knocked down trees and power lines. One person sustained minor injuries.

1995

Date County Description
January 6, 1995 Richland (F1) A tornado dipped down east of Lake Murray. Roofs were torn off apartments and one home near Ballentine. Extensive damage was done to trees, power lines, and homes in the immediate path. The tornado caused about $10 million in damages in Richland county and left about 29,000 homes without power.
January 6, 1995 Fairfield (F1) A small tornado was spawned from a thunderstorm. Extensive damages to trees and utilities were noted.
January 14, 1995 Newberry (F0) A small tornado touched down in a wooded area near Prosperity.
January 14, 1995 Newberry (F0) A small tornado touched down near Pomaria and sheared off a couple of trees.
January 14, 1995 Orangeburg (F0) A tornado touched down near Bowlentown Community and severely damaged a large storage shed.
January 14, 1995 Lexington (F1) The tornado stayed on the ground continuously for one mile with several touchdowns over another mile. Heavy damage was done to timber.
March 8, 1995 Greenville (F0) A small tornado touched down in a wooded area causing mainly tree damage. Siding was blown off a house in Taylors.
March 8, 1995 Greenwood (F1) This tornado touched down around Highway 10, destroying one mobile home and damaging several others. Some houses were also damaged. A couple of carports were torn from houses and a number of trees and power lines were downed.
May 1, 1995 Pickens (F0) A weak tornado touched down causing only nuisance type damage.
May 1, 1995 Cherokee (F0) This tornado blew down a storage building and knocked down some trees in the city of Gaffney. Billboards, trees, and power lines were knocked down along I-85.
May 1, 1995 York (F0) This tornado was mostly a "tree-topper" with four separate touchdowns. Estimated damages were around $45,000.
May 1, 1995 Chester (F0) A small tornado touched down nine miles west-northwest of Chester. It took the roof off of a barn, completely destroyed a small metal building and scattered its contents over a several hundred yard area.
May 15, 1995 Newberry (F0) No information reported.
May 15, 1995 Berkeley (F0) A tornado blew a mobile home off its foundation.
June 5, 1995 Beaufort (F1) A waterspout moved onshore at Hilton Head Island causing damage at several shopping centers. A grocery store lost its roof, an office building under construction was destroyed, a child care center was damaged, and 35 parked vehicles sustained damages.
June 12, 1995 Beaufort (F1) A tornado touched down near a migrant workers camp. One dormitory lost its roof and there were trees twisted off above ground level.
June 27, 1995 Clarendon (F0) A tornado destroyed a double-wide mobile home and damaged a nearby store.
July 6, 1995 Darlington (F0) A short tornado knocked down trees.
October 5, 1995 Chesterfield A tornado was spawned off of remnants of Hurricane Opal. Many trees were blown down in the Carolina Sandhill National Wildlife Refuge. Trees were blown down in Orangeburg, one fell onto a car, totaling it.
October 5, 1995 Greenville (F0) A tornado developed from an intense rain band associated with Hurricane Opal. A number of trees and power lines were blown down onto vehicles and structures. Some campers and boats were destroyed and homes were damaged.
October 27, 1995 Marion (F1) A tornado downed trees and caused additional property damage.
October 27, 1995 Richland (F0) A small tornado developed NW of Columbia. Trees, large signs, and power lines were knocked down.
November 2, 1995 Lexington (F3) Three mobile homes, two frame houses, and one shed were destroyed.
November 2, 1995 Calhoun (F2) A tornado destroyed one home and severely damaged another. Six outbuildings and two grain bins were destroyed along with farm equipment. One car was overturned.
November 2, 1995 Clarendon (F0) A tornado touched down in a grove of trees and took them down.
November 7, 1995 Darlington (F1) A tornado took down dozens of trees, damaged 16 structures and one mobile home, and destroyed one shed.
November 7, 1995 Florence (F2) A tornado downed trees, destroyed one mobile home and 12 cars, and badly damaged an apartment complex near Francis Marion.
November 7, 1995 Dillon (F0) A tornado briefly touched down and uprooted a giant pecan tree, damaging a house.
November 7, 1995 Marion (F4) A tornado destroyed one mobile home and leveled a church sanctuary. The church bell was found 400 yards east of the church. A house suffered major roof damage.
November 7, 1995 Williamsburg (F0) A tornado destroyed a mobile home and scattered cotton bales.
November 7, 1995 Williamsburg (F1) Two tornado touchdowns destroyed a Laundromat and downed trees onto homes.
November 7, 1995 Williamsburg (F1) Several mobile homes were damaged or destroyed near Sandridge.
November 7, 1995 Horry (F2) An estimated five tornado touchdowns ran a track in ten minutes from near the Conway Raceway northeast along US Highway 378 to the Little River area on SC Highway 90. Major damage was done to 50 residential and five commercial buildings. Minor damage was done to 85 residential and 20 commercial buildings. Hundreds of large trees were twisted and snapped.
November 7, 1995 Georgetown (F1) A tornado briefly touched down, severely damaging houses and snapping off trees near Sampit.
November 7, 1995 Georgetown (F1) A tornado briefly touched down and mangled large steel beams of a building under construction.
November 7, 1995 Berkeley (F0) A tornado ripped the roof off of a fire station, damaged a nearby mobile home, and downed trees and power lines.
November 7, 1995 Charleston (F0) A waterspout moved ashore from over the Cooper River.
November 7, 1995 Colleton (F0) A small tornado touched down but no damage was reported.
November 7, 1995 Beaufort (F1) 17 homes were damaged by a tornado on Hilton Head Plantation, including four homes on "Millionaire Row." Numerous trees were leveled.
November 7, 1995 Beaufort (F0) A 14 ft jonboat was smashed apart as well as a new 16 ft catamaran and its trailer. A tree fell on the roof of a car and there was gutter damage to several nearby homes.
November 7, 1995 Aiken (F2) A tornado completely destroyed four large poultry houses and a peach processing building. Large farm equipment was destroyed and one person was injured.
November 7, 1995 Lexington (F0) A tornado caused damage to homes, businesses and trees.
November 7, 1995 Aiken (F0) A tornado damaged two homes and many trees.
November 7, 1995 Richland (F0) A tornado touched down at the fairgrounds and caused damage to several buildings.
November 7, 1995 Lexington (F0) A tornado damaged two mobile homes and trees.
November 7, 1995 Lexington (F1) Tornado damaged numerous homes and billboards. One house moved four feet off of its foundation. A landscaping business was destroyed.
November 7, 1995 Orangeburg (F0) A tornado damaged a mobile home and took down trees.
November 7, 1995 Orangeburg (F1) A tornado destroyed 16 mobile homes, seriously damaged 11 others and one frame home. Three people were slightly injured.
November 7, 1995 Calhoun (F2) A tornado severely damaged a horse training center, a track, and a home.
November 7, 1995 Chesterfield (F0) Minor damage was done to a farm and trees were knocked down.
November 7, 1995 Clarendon (F0) Minor damage was done to a home and trees were downed.
November 7, 1995 Greenwood (F0) Tornado damaged trees, power lines, and roofs.

1996

Date County Description
January 2, 1996 Orangeburg (F0) A tornado damaged a middle school and several other homes. Damages were estimated around $29,000.
January 2, 1996 Orangeburg (F0) A tornado caused $2000 in damages to a church.
March 7, 1996 Orangeburg (F0) A tornado took down several large trees. Damage was done to a car, the deck of a home, and the roof of an agricultural building.
March 7, 1996 Clarendon (F0) A tornado took down trees and power lines in Bloomville.
March 16, 1996 Fairfield (F0) A tornado caused damage to a roof of a home and took down several trees.
March 16, 1996 Kershaw (F0) A brief tornado took down trees in its path.
April 26, 1996 Anderson (F1) A small tornado downed a number of large trees, some of which fell on homes and vehicles.
May 7, 1996 Aiken (F0) A small tornado touched down in a grove of trees south of Monetta.
May 29, 1996 Kershaw (F0) A tornado just missed a restaurant and took down 2-4 ft diameter trees which caused damage to an animal farm. Large utility poles had to be replaced.
May 29, 1996 Cherokee (F0) A small tornado downed trees and power lines near Blacksburg.
May 29, 1996 Chester (F0) A small tornado touched down near Richburg. Trees were downed and outbuildings and sheds were destroyed.
July 10, 1996 Horry (F0) A waterspout sighted off Cherry Grove Beach moved ashore. No damage was reported.
July 26, 1996 Spartanburg (F1) A mobile home was blown off its foundation and at Walnut Grove, large pecan trees were destroyed. Homes were damaged by winds and falling trees.
July 26, 1996 Union (F0) A weak tornado was visible near Union. No substantial damage was reported.
September 16, 1996 Sumter (F2) A tornado produced estimated winds at 120 mph when it touched down in extreme eastern Sumter county. The twister was about 150 yards wide and had a damage path 1.5 miles long. Three outbuildings were destroyed, one tree fell on a car and totaled it, another fell on a home, the roof of a two story house was ripped off and the upstairs ceiling caved in. A farm combine was also turned over and damaged. Initial damage estimates were set around $75,000.
September 16, 1996 Florence (F0) A tornado downed power lines.
September 16, 1996 Florence (F0) A tornado damaged a wooded area.
September 16, 1996 Marion (F0) A tornado downed trees and power lines along Highway 41. Near Zion, two tobacco farms were destroyed.
September 16, 1996 Oconee (F1) A tornado took the roof off a home, damaged two churches, destroyed outbuildings and damaged other property.
September 16, 1996 Anderson (F2) A tornado blew off roofs of well built homes, blew a moving car off the road and caused one injury. It scattered large debris on a golf course and injured another person. Large trees and power lines were snapped off. Highest estimated winds were around 150 mph.
September 16, 1996 Anderson (F1) A tornado caused significant damage to several businesses in the outskirts of the city of Anderson. The roof was removed from a large section of a strip center and almost all of the new cars at one dealership lot were damaged from flying debris.
September 16, 1996 Anderson (F1) A tornado caused significant damage to a number of homes in a subdivision as well as other typical tornado damage.
September 16, 1996 Greenville (F0) This tornado crossed into Greenville from Anderson county.
October 8, 1996 Horry (F0) This tornado was associated with the remnants of tropical storm Josephine. This roaring tornado caused spotty damage, damaging trees, power lines, and homes.

Date County Description
February 21, 1997 Oconee (F0) A tornado was spotted in Westminster at 3:20 PM, resulting in $5,000 in damages.
February 21, 1997 Anderson (F1) A small, brief tornado near Honea Path removed a roof from a mobile home, uprooted and snapped off 15 to 20 trees, and did other minor damage estimated at $30,000.
February 21, 1997 Spartanburg (F2) A tornado with winds of 120 mph briefly touched down 2 miles north of Roebuck. One home under construction was completely destroyed and blown away by the winds. Three other homes were estimated to be 50-75% destroyed. Several other homes had major structural damage and several had minor damage, all totaling about $330,000.
February 21, 1997 York (F0) A tornado was spotted in Clover at 5:20 PM.
March 14, 1997 Charleston (F1) A waterspout moved onshore and caused $30,000 in damage to a home on Sullivan's Island.
March 14, 1997 Charleston (F1) A tornado caused moderate damage to a home and minor damage to two trailers in Awendaw. Damages estimated at $75,000.
April 22, 1997 Clarendon (F1) A small supercell produced a tornado just east southeast of Turbeville which injured two people, destroyed five mobile homes, and badly damaged several other mobile homes.
April 22, 1997 Dorchester (F1) A tornado in St. George tore the roof off one trailer and uprooted several trees. There were $1,000 in crop damages and $30,000 in property damages.
April 22, 1997 Horry (F1) A tornado in Conway injured an infant. Two houses were damaged by fallen trees, and numerous power lines were knocked down. Damages were estimated at $20,000.
July 23, 1997 Lexington (F2) A tornado in Gaston produced winds up to 150 mph. It killed a 32 year old female and injured six others. Two homes were destroyed and nine others had major damage. Two apartments (duplex) were destroyed. Seven mobile homes were destroyed and 94 had minor damage. Numerous trees were knocked down, and two fields had areas of damaged crops totaling $25,000. Property damages were estimated at $917,000.
July 23, 1997 Richland (F1) A tornado in Columbia produced winds up to 100 mph, knocking down numerous trees and damaging 35 homes. Seventeen businesses also had minor damage. One person was injured.
July 23, 1997 Richland (F0) A tornado touched down on the north side of Ft. Jackson and took down some trees in the training area.
July 23, 1997 Kershaw (F2) A tornado in Camden produced winds up to 135 mph, knocking down numerous trees. Two homes had major damage, and three had minor damage. One mobile home was destroyed, andthree others had minor damage. One person was injured.
July 23, 1997 Abbeville (F0) A tornado in Due West resulted in $2,000 in crop damage.
July 24, 1997 Kershaw (F1) A tornado touched down between Bethune and McBee, producing winds up to 90 mph. The tornado damaged a home north of Bethune before crossing the county and diminishing to an F0, taking down many trees in the Carolina Sand Hills National Wildlife Refuge just north of McBee. Property damages were estimated at $25,000.
July 24, 1997 Chester (F1) Remnants of Hurricane Danny spawned a tornado that moved across a garbage truck transfer station in Ft. Lawn, lifting a trailer off the ground and turning it over. One mobile home ws destroyed, injuring an occupant. Damages were estimated at $15,000
September 24, 1997 Georgetown (F1) A tornado destroyed one mobile home and damaged four others, resulting in $50,000 in damages in the North Santee area.

March 8, 1998 Bamberg (F0) A tornado touched down in Olar and east of Govan downing several trees.
March 8, 1998 Orangeburg (F2) A tornado near Neeses did $80,000 in damages to several mobile homes, houses, a church roof, and two cinder block buildings.
March 8, 1998 Orangeburg (F2) A tornado near Vance did major damage to a horse farm and race track. Several horses were injured, and debris from the horse farm was found as far as three miles away. Major damage was done to a house and a couple of mobile homes. Several mobile homes and houses sustained minor damage. Total damages were estimated at $220,000.
March 8, 1998 Clarendon (F0) The tornado near Vance jumped Lake Marion and briefly touched down near Coopers Landing, breaking off a telephone pole and some trees. Damage was estimated at $2,000.
March 8, 1998 Dillon (F0) The Dillon County Sheriff reported trees downed and a funnel cloud sighted.
March 8, 1998 Horry (F0) A tornado damaged two homes and a garage in the Pleasant View community. Damage was estimated at $25,000.
April 9, 1998 Jasper (F1) A tornado uprooted and snapped off trees, blew shingles off roofs, and damaged several other buildings. Damages were estimated at $50,000.
April 19, 1998 Laurens (F0) A tornado did $70,000 in damages in the Waterloo area, blowing trees into structures and vehicles.
April 19, 1998 York (F0) A tornado just west of Clover took the tin roof off a barn and blew the camper shell off a truck resulting in $500 in damages.
April 19, 1998 York (F0) A woman observed a brief tornado touchdown in a field on the south side of Rock Hill.
May 4, 1998 Charleston A funnel cloud was spotted near the Charleston Air Force Base, but there was no damage.
May 7, 1998 Edgefield (F3) A tornado touched down near Edgefield taking down numerous trees and doing $300,000 in damage to several homes.
May 7, 1998 Edgefield (F2) A tornado touched down west of Johnston doing $500,000 in damage to several homes and businesses.
May 7, 1998 Edgefield (F3) A tornado destroyed or severely damaged nearly 60 houses and mobile homes and a church. One person was killed when her mobile home took a direct hit and was completely destroyed. Many trees were downed. Damage was estimated and $1 million.
May 7, 1998 McCormick (F0) A tornado downed trees and did minor damage to some homes in the Meriwether area.

May 7, 1998 Abbeville (F0) A weak, short-lived tornado downed numerous large trees and blew a carport off a house and underpinning off a trailer near Due West. Damage was estimated at $30,000.
May 7, 1998 Greenwood (F1) A weak tornado touched down near the Abbeville county line and moved towards Hodges damaging some buildings, lifting a pick-up truck off the ground off the ground and lodging it in a tree, killing goats and pigs, and downing hundreds or trees. Damage was estimated at $75,000.
May 8, 1998 Berkeley (F1) A tornado near St. Stephen took a portion of a roof off and uprooted and snapped off numerous trees.
May 10, 1998 Sumter (F0) A tornado briefly touched down in the Pinewood area downing trees.
May 10, 1998 Dorchester (F0) A tornado in the St George area damaged a brick home's roof, destroyed a shed, threw a boat 40 feet, and uprooted a couple of trees. Damages were estimated at $4,500.
May 10, 1998 Dorchester (F0) A tornado in the Summerville area downed several trees and large limbs.
May 10, 1998 Berkeley (F2) The tornado that briefly touched down earlier in Dorchester County crossed Interstate 26 into Berkeley County, touching down in the Ladson and Goose reek areas. There were 442 homes damaged: 17 were destroyed, 113 sustained major damage, and the remainder had minor damage. A 90 year old female was injured severely when her mobile home was flipped and thrown more than 40 feet. She died several hours later. Several eye witnesses reported seeing vortices rotating around the main funnel. This fact was proven by the damage pattern in several areas. Damages totaled $5 million.
May 10, 1998 Berkeley (F0) A tornado in the St. Stephen area downed several trees and limbs, damaged a mobile home, did minor damage to several roofs on brick houses, and destroyed an outdoor shed. Damages were estimated at $3,000.
June 2, 1998 Saluda (F0) A small tornado touched down in a cluster of trees in the Saluda area.
June 2, 1998 Anderson There were reports of funnel clouds associated with a severe thunderstorm and an unconfirmed report of a tornado touchdown south of Anderson.
June 2, 1998 Beaufort A waterspout was reported near Hilton Head Island.
June 4, 1998 Edgefield (F0) A tornado touched down in a field in the Trenton area.
June 4, 1998 Chester (F0) A tornado was reported near Chester.
June 4, 1998 Greenwood Police officers observed twin tornadoes touch down briefly in a field northwest of Chester, but no damage was produced.
June 6, 1998 Sumter (F0) A tornado in the Rembert area downed trees and power lines. Two mobile homes sustained minor damage and two sheds sustained moderate damage. Total damages estimated at $2,000.
June 6, 1998 Spartanburg (F0) A tornado was spotted in the Pacolet Mills area.
June 6, 1998 Union (F1) A tornado in the Carlisle area caused trees to fall on several houses, across some roads, and on some railroad tracks.
June 10, 1998 Charleston Several waterspouts were reported by Harbor Pilot and the public in Charleston Harbor.
June10, 1998 Florence (F0) A tornado in the Lake City area downed power lines and did spotty damage as it passed through woods. Damages totaled $10,000.
June 10, 1998 Williamsburg (F1) The Lake City tornado moved into the Cades area downing power lines and doing spotty tree damage. Two homes were badly damaged and five had minor damage. Farm equipment and tobacco and corn crops were also damaged. Structural damages totaled $72,000. Crop damages were estimated at $100,000.
June 19, 1998 Florence (F0) A tornado in the Scranton area downed trees in the Camp Branch Community, damaged the roof of the Lake City-Scranton Convalescent Center, and turned over a mobile home. Damages were estimated at $80,000.
June 19, 1998 Georgetown A water spout was spotted in Murrells Inlet.

February 19, 1999 Woodford (F0) Sheriff reported tornado touchdown southwest of Woodford. Damage survey revieled an F0 touched down near a church and went into the woods.
April 1, 1999 Florence (F0) Six people witnessed a small funnel cloud decending, moving a double-wide manufactured home off its foundation and damaging a tobacco barn at the corner of Hyman Rd and Friendfield Rd.
April 8, 1999 Barnwell (F0) Spotter and damage survey confirmed an F0 tornado took down trees and powerlines.
April 15, 1999 Colleton (F1) Roof damage occurred to a house and several outdoor buildings, along with several trees uprooted or snapped off 15 to 20 feet above the ground.
April 15, 1999 Barnwell (F1) KC4JMV and damage survey confirmed an F1 tornado took down numerous trees and powerlines along a 2 mile path. Minor damage was also done to a home.
April 15, 1999 Barnwell (F0) An F0 touched down on the east side of Hilda and damaged a small farm. One shed was destroyed, some equipment, and a few trees were down.
April 15, 1999 Bamberg (F0) Damage survey confirmed an F0 tornado took down some trees and powerlines.
April 15, 1999 Allendale (F2) An F2 tornado destroyed 20 acres of watermelons and rolled over a large tractor several times. Numerous trees and powerlines were down along the track.
April 24, 1999 Newberry (F0) Storm survey confirmed an F0 touched down and took some trees down.
April 24, 1999 Saluda (F0) An F0 tornado intermittently touched down in wooded areas and fields, narrowly missing some homes. Damage was limited to trees down.
April 28, 1999 Berkeley (F1) One home had a large portion of the center of the roof removed, much of the stucco brick peeled off the north wall, and several windows blown out. Damage estimate was near 30 thousand dollars. Another house had minor damage with the tin roof damaged and the back door blown out. Damage estimate was near 20 thousand dollars. Also, there were several large trees uprooted or twisted off along the three mile path.
May 6, 1999 Darlington (F1) F1 Tornado touched down at Darlington Airport @ 1540EST
May 6, 1999 Florence (F1) F1 Tonado touched down in New Hope @ 1545EST.
May 6, 1999 Horry (F1) Thunderstorm activity over the midwest states moved into the Carolinas on 5/6, and approached the coast during the afternoon. Thunderstorms winds did damage to trees and power lines, and there were 3 tornado touchdowns reported, with damage rated as F1. The first, at Darlington Co airport, caused wind gusts near 110 mph and damaged an aircraft hangar. The second, in the New Hope community of Florence County, did damage to a roof on a house and to a mobile home. The third downed a tree onto a house near Aynor in Horry County.
June 15, 1999 Edgefield (F0) An F0 took some tops out of trees and took down a fence on a horse farm.
June 18, 1999 Horry (Waterspout) The Coast Guard reported a waterspout off Little River Inlet, moving east. The waterspout dissipated with no landfall.
July 3, 1999 Charleston (Funnel Cloud) A Funnel Cloud was spotted between 920/930 EST in Charleston.
August 20, 1999 Spartanburg (Funnel Cloud) A Funnel Cloud was spotted @ 1715 EST.
September 29, 1999 Darlington (F1) A tornado touched down at Clyde, just west of the HB Robinson nuclear power plant, and tracked across the Pine Ridge area. The storm continued east-northeast, north of Hartsville across mostly rural areas, to near the Darlington County Jetport. There was spotty damage along a 15 mile path - 11 mobile homes were destroyed and 15 more were damaged. One house had major damage. Six businesses were listed as destroyed. Six injured people were treated and released.
October 4, 1999 Oconee (F0) A F0 Tornado was spotted in Tokeena Xrds @ 845 EST.
November 11, 1999 Greenville (Funnel Cloud) A Funnel Cloud was spotted in Simpsonville between 1430/1440 EST.
November 11, 1999 Laurens (Funnel Cloud) A Funnel Cloud was spotted in Fountain Inn between 1445/1530 EST.

February 14, 2000 Aiken (F0) Storm survey found a small F0 track in area reported by EOC. Only damage was to trees.
March 3, 2000 Spartanburg (F0) A fire chief observed a small and brief tornado touchdown in an open field. No property damage occurred, but there were broken limbs and evidence of a cyclonic circulation in the field. The tornado was spawned by one thunderstorm in a line of storms that was moving across the Upstate.
March 16, 2000 Richland (F0) An F0 touched down in the forest area of Ft. Jackson taking down trees and killing one deer.
March 16, 2000 Richland (F0) An F0 touched down along SC hwy 86 and took down some trees.
March 16, 2000 Sumter (F0) Spotter observed an F0 touch down on his property which took down some trees.
April 3, 2000 Pickens (F1) A Tornado was touched down in Clemson between 355/400 EST.

June 16, 2000 Oconee (F0) A Tornado touched down in Tamassee @ 1944 EST.
June 22, 2000 Hampton (F1) Numerous trees down and minor roof damage.
July 22, 2000 Fairfield (F0) Damage survey confirmed an F0 touched down on hwy 383 and took down trees and did minor damage to a roof on a home.
July 23, 2000 Georgetown (F0) Waterspout came ashore two miles southwest of Litchfield Beach, striking the Litchfield Inn (no damage reported) and shattering the windows of several automobiles.
July 23, 2000 Charleston (F0) Waterspout came ashore briefly and damaged two homes under construction. A flower pot was thrown through a car window a block away.
August 3, 2000 Charleston (F0) A waterspout that was moving just off the coast of the Isle of Palms came ashore briefly and threw around a couple of beach chairs and some beach towels. The waterspout dissipated almost immediately once it came ashore.
September 18, 2000 Georgetown (F1) A tornado touched down on Waccamaw Neck. Numerous trees were down in the path of the tornado, one damaging the church at Friendfield Village in Hobcaw.
September 22, 2000 Allendale (F1) Damage to a tin roof on a frame home, a hog feeder damaged, minor damage to several brick homes and several trees down.
September 22, 2000 Allendale (F2) Fatality occurred in a camper that was one of 10 other campers at a hunt club. The camper was the second one in the line and it appeared to have disintegrated. One of the other campers was turned on its side while the others remained upright, for the most part. Also, there were three mobile homes destroyed, major damage to two mobile homes, minor damage to six mobile homes and major damage to a frame home along with numerous trees down or snapped 10 to 15 feet above the ground. This tornado continued into Barnwell County in WFO Columbia's CWA.
September 22, 2000 Barnwell (F0) Damage survey found F0 tornado path along Lyndhurst Road taking down only trees.
September 23, 2000 Bamberg (F1) Storm survey found a weak F1 touched in Denmark on Lee Rd. It took down 7 pecan trees in an orchard, overturned a doublewide mobile home, and damaged roof to 7 homes.
September 25, 2000 Aiken (F0) An F0 took tops out of pine trees along SC hwy 421 between N Augusta and Gloverville.
December 16, 2000 Abbeville (F0) A short-lived tornado shook a house and tore off a satellite dish near Calhoun Falls. The northern end of a squall line, preceding a strong cold front that would cross the region that night, brought strong winds to Upstate South Carolina, and produced a brief tornado near Calhoun Falls. Fortunately, damage was minimal.
